We welcome all physicians and pharmacists from diverse practice settings and specialties to volunteer at HOMES Clinic as preceptors. We also welcome any interested students enrolled at one of our affiliated institutions where we hold an active Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Reach out to your school’s representative for more information.

Preceptors must be licensed in the State of Texas and their liability coverage must extent to volunteer activities at HOMES Clinic. For more information, reach out to: homes.director@gmail.com

All BCM students must have an approved NICER form for HOMES Clinic prior to coming into clinic, at least 2 weeks before their shift - for more details about NICER, see here.
HOMES Clinic is now a designated SLP site for managers / MiTs! If you are interested in counting HOMES managing as a SLP activity, contact the SLP program directly and cc homes.manage@gmail.com.

A UTH faculty/adjunct must be present in clinic to ensure liability coverage for UTH students. Since not all our physician preceptors are UTH-affiliated, volunteering opportunities may sometimes vary in availability.
Volunteer at HOMES at least twice during the academic year to receive Extracurricular Elective credit.
Attend at least 3 “Street Medicine Lecture Series” lectures & fill out an online evaluation at the end to receive credit.

PharmD students are only eligible to participate within the “Pharmacy” volunteer role. While pharmacy volunteers may participate in triage or visit The Beacon as a clinic manager, unfortunately, current administrative policies do not allow students to participate in the Health Advocate volunteer role.
